Teaching Assistant

Welton Primary School is seeking to appoint child-centred professional/s to join our community. We are committed to exceptional support for all pupils. 

A strong commitment to improving the day-to-day success, well-being and longer-term outcomes of children is essential, along with an informed, innovative, compassionate and enthusiastic approach to learning and Social, Emotional and Mental Health. Expertise in supporting children to become independent, self-sufficient learners is very important.

It is essential that candidates have empathy with children with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties and are able to work in sometimes challenging and demanding circumstances.

Strong interpersonal skills, resilience and a positive mind-set are also essential. Being able to motivate a team – to be a ‘radiator not a drain’ with colleagues – is very important.

You will need to enjoy working and have specialist skills to work with individual pupils who have needs in relation to social communication, social emotional difficulties and learning, but should also have the experience, skills and knowledge and ability to lead work with larger groups of children alongside the class teacher. An ability to be responsive to unexpected changes in deployment is also key to these roles. 

The school is committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of students and expects staff to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo appropriate child protection screening including a DBS check
