Maths Learning Journeys

Target Setting

Targets in maths are related to the ‘big picture objective’ that changes regularly. The steps to success that children need to take to master the ‘big picture objective’ will be displayed in the classroom and referred to as part of the daily teaching of maths. These objectives form pupil’s daily targets. The expectation is that pupils are aware of where they are in relation to the current learning journey, and what they still need to achieve to complete the learning journey.

All classes have incorporated this into a maths display that changes with every new learning journey. This display should also include tools and equipment to be used, quality examples of work and models/representations of ideas and concepts.

The ‘big picture’ target setting document is to be shared with parents by email, and by displaying it prominently in a window of the classroom.
